Cards that improve your hand
How to use it
- Choose the number of players
Count the players still in the hand, including you. When someone folds, lower the number.
- Enter cards: suit, then rank
Enter your two hole cards, then the board (community cards).
- Hand and odds update automatically
Your hand and your chance to win are worked out from the cards you enter.
⌫ removes the last card, AC clears all. The cards shown when the page opens are an example.
How to read the hand odds table
The table shows the chance that your seven cards end up as each hand by the river. Columns run from before the deal, to your two hole cards, the flop (3 board cards) and the turn (4 board cards), and the numbers change as each card is dealt. ▲ means the chance went up, ▼ that it went down.
The "Before deal" column is the chance of each hand from seven random cards (hidden on phones). The hole card, flop and turn columns are exact: they count every way the remaining cards can come. Hands you can no longer make drop out of the table.
How the win chance is worked out
The calculator deals your opponents' cards and the rest of the board at random tens of thousands of times and counts how often you would win if nobody folded (a Monte Carlo simulation). Everything runs on your own phone or computer; nothing is sent anywhere.
Players means the players still in the hand. If three of six players fold, set it to 3 and the odds are worked out again against the two opponents left. You cannot see the folded cards, so treating them like undealt cards does not change the result.
The big win chance includes your share of split pots, so it can be a little higher than the "Win" count in "Play 100 times".
In a real game players fold along the way, so the win chance is a guide for the case where everyone stays to showdown. The more players, the lower the chance for the same hand.
What are outs?
Outs are the unseen cards that would improve your hand. With A♥ K♥ and a board of Q♥ 7♥ 2♣, any of the nine hearts left gives you a flush, so you have 9 outs to a flush.
This tool counts outs separately for each hand they make. Cards that would give everyone the same hand from the board alone (such as pairing the board) are not counted.
Handy shortcut: the rule of 4 and 2
- Flop
- outs × 4approx. % by the river
- Turn
- outs × 2approx. % on the next card
With 9 outs, that is about 36% on the flop and about 18% on the turn.
